Our story is a tale deeply rooted in family tradition and a passion for the art of barbering. It all began with my grandfather, a remarkable man whose journey shaped the foundation of our barbershop.

Growing up in Italy, my grandfather discovered his passion for barbering at a young age. However, his path took an unexpected turn when he was imprisoned in a Nazi camp during the German invasion of the northern regions of Italy. Determined to survive and make the best of a dire situation, he found himself cutting the hair of German soldiers for the duration of his four-year internment.

When the war finally came to an end, my grandfather embraced his dream and opened his very first barbershop, aptly named Fratelli, meaning “brothers” in Italian. As a child, I would often visit his shop, eagerly watching him work his magic and lending a helping hand whenever I could. Those early memories of the bustling Italian barbershop, filled with laughter, stories, and a sense of community, sparked a deep desire within me to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps.

Completing my education in Italy, I decided to embark on a new chapter in the United Kingdom, where my mother hails from and my father’s Italian roots originate. I enrolled in the prestigious Scottish Barbering School on Oswald Street, honing my skills and perfecting the art of barbering. Eager to expand my knowledge and learn from the best, I sought out high-end courses in London, further refining my craft.

With newfound expertise under my belt, I began my professional journey by working in various barbershops in the heart of the city centre. Eventually, I found myself at a barbershop in the vibrant West End, where our team was honoured with the esteemed Shaba Award for Best New Barbers. The recognition we received reaffirmed my commitment to providing exceptional service and nurturing lasting relationships with our valued clients.

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to create an experience that truly captures the essence of old-world barbershops, I decided to take the leap and establish my own barbershop near Kelvinbridge. Drawing upon the loyal following I had cultivated throughout my career, I opened the doors to Fratelli Barbershop on Dowanhill Street, paying homage to my grandfather’s first establishment.
